There Are No Experts Here

There are no experts here.

There are no masters in AI. Not really. There are people with doctorates or stratospheric IQs or bottomless bank accounts. There are those with technical ability, and inherent curiosity, and more hours inside the machinery. But no one can tell you how intelligence is supposed to apply in your own life. And AI or digital intelligence is intelligence. It's shapeless.

Recognizing this grants you permission. License to explore. The mistake is waiting for someone to hand you the correct use case or tell you how to think. And this AI thing is another way of thinking. These use cases plastered across your timeline are methods someone came up with last week that they've added to their toolbox. Next week it'll be something else.

This is where a lot of fear gets misplaced. There are serious institutional questions around AI: energy sourcing and generation, nation-states jockeying for position, labor markets throttling, control. Those are real games, and many of them are scarcity games. But your first move as a person does not need to carry all of that weight. Your first move can be smaller: what does this stuff help me notice, make, decide, or try?

The feeling is closer to being handed the keys to a car before anyone has finished the driver's manual. You can be nervous. You probably should be. But driving is just more fun than talking about cars. And in this analogy you don't entirely know how to drive a car. And you still won't know until you get in and look around. What's this button do?

This morning I felt physically sour from thinking too hard and sleeping poorly. I went for a walk, talked through it with an AI in voice mode, pushed the frame around, and came away with a clearer view: I was running hot and needed to pace myself. That is not a grand use case. Nor was it flawless. It was mundane. But the time and exposure matter. You do not learn what digital intelligence is by waiting for an expert to name it. You learn by bringing it to the life you already have.
